In today’s edition of “Things we don’t need and didn’t ask for, but it’s really cool anyway”, we have a robot that helps you out with your ‘Tinder‘ swipes.
That’s right. If you’re not sure whether to swipe right or left, this handy little robot by Nicole He will read how you’re feeling and swipe for you.
I made a robot that reads your body's response as you look at Tinder profiles, and then swipes based on science. pic.twitter.com/xExatPyFX3

Again, this isn’t something that we particularly “need”. But, maybe in the future we’ll be able to use a robot like this to help us with dating needs. In the future you can just walk up to a podium on a lonely Saturday night, put your hands on it and look at some pictures of other local people who are available that night, and go out on a date within minutes.
What I would like to see moving forward, is using this robot and seeing how accurate it is. Maybe there is such a thing as “love at first sight”? Maybe the robot is better at picking a mate for you based on biometrics, rather than what your brain tells you about the subject you’re looking at. What if it’s one of those weird ‘Tinder’ profiles that is an account for a cat or something? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Awesome job, Nicole! Go science!
